Mega Altaria ex wins by filling the bench with low-cost Psychic Pokemon and firing Mega Harmony for up to 130 damage. The deck prioritizes bench density over raw single attacker power, scoring 2 points on ex KOs or 3 points — ending the game instantly — only if the target is an opposing Mega ex.
Open by searching Swablu with Poké Ball and populating the bench with flex Pokemon such as Igglybuff, Darkrai, Eevee, or Chingling. By mid-game, evolve Swablu into Mega Altaria ex through natural draw via Professor's Research, Copycat, and Lisia. With three Benched Pokemon, Mega Harmony deals 40 + 90 = 130 damage — the maximum the bench allows. Close out by presenting Mega Altaria ex as the active attacker and swinging for that ceiling, scoring 2 points on each ex KO and building toward the 3-point win threshold.

Every extra benched Pokemon adds 30 damage to Mega Harmony, capping at 3 benched for 130 total. Use your early turns to place Igglybuff, Darkrai, Eevee, Espeon, or Chingling on the bench. Poké Ball finds Swablu; natural draw from Professor's Research and Copycat assembles Mega Altaria ex. Attack only when the bench is full enough to KO your target.
After attacking, you may need to switch Mega Altaria ex to the bench to avoid an opposing KO. With retreat cost 1, switching is cheap. Sabrina sends the opponent's current Active Pokemon to their bench (they pick the replacement), clearing out a dangerous attacker. Cyrus forces a damaged opposing bench Pokemon into the Active Spot, letting you finish it off for points.
Every Pokemon removed from the Mega Altaria ex bench costs 30 damage per Mega Harmony. Strategies that force bench Pokemon to be discarded or prevent bench extension cut the damage ceiling significantly. Reducing the bench to one or fewer Pokemon drops Mega Harmony to 70 damage or less, low enough to survive with healing.
Mega Altaria ex requires Swablu plus evolution time. Aggressive fast decks that score 1 point off a Swablu KO and then pressure the bench early can build a point lead before Mega Harmony fires. The deck has no way to attack while still in the Swablu stage.
The bench-filling flex Pokemon — Igglybuff, Darkrai, Eevee, Espeon — introduce varied types with their own weaknesses. Playing into those weaknesses while avoiding Mega Altaria ex lets you farm 1-point KOs and accumulate scoring leads without ever facing 130-damage Mega Harmony.
