Strengths

  • Rising Road provides a free pivot every turn, letting Solgaleo ex trade aggressively without being stranded Active between attacks.
  • Rare Candy skips the Cosmoem stage, so a single Cosmog can become Solgaleo ex as early as turn 2 with the right draw.
  • Favorable matchups against Beedrill ex, Lycanroc ex, and Corviknight ex decks give the archetype reliable wins against several popular builds.

Weaknesses

  • Solgaleo ex is an ex Pokemon — a single knockout hands your opponent 2 points, putting them close to the 3-point win threshold.ex KO
  • Sol Breaker deals 10 recoil to Solgaleo ex each use, eroding its 180 HP over the game and making it easier to knock out.Other
  • Building a Stage 2 line means losing to Magnezone and Annihilape decks that can disrupt the Cosmog evolution before Rare Candy arrives.Consistency

Key Moves & Abilities

AbilityRising Road(Solgaleo ex)

Once during your turn, if this Pokémon is on your Bench, you may switch it with your Active Pokémon.

Sol Breaker(Solgaleo ex)
120

This Pokémon also does 10 damage to itself.

Strategy Guide

Auto-generated

Solgaleo ex wins by swapping in from the Bench with Rising Road to land 120-damage Sol Breaker attacks each turn. The deck uses Rare Candy to skip Cosmoem and accelerate the Stage 2 line, backed by Eevee evolutions that provide utility support.

Open by getting Cosmog into play with Poke Ball and loading draw supporters to find Rare Candy. In the mid-game you want Solgaleo ex on the Bench so Rising Road lets you swap it into the Active Spot for a free pivot each turn, threatening 120 damage with Sol Breaker. Support Pokemon like Sylveon ex and Vaporeon ex supplement the attacker line. In the finishing turns you chain Sol Breaker hits while using Cyrus and Mars to deny your opponent the resources they need to answer you.

Damage Math

Most ex attackers (100-160 HP range)

Sol Breaker 120 base = 120 per turn

Solgaleo ex also takes 10 recoil damage per Sol Breaker use

How to Play

Accelerate the Stage 2 Line with Rare Candy

Use Poke Ball to find Cosmog on turn 1, then dig for Rare Candy and Solgaleo ex through Professor's Research and Copycat. Skipping Cosmoem entirely means you can have a live Solgaleo ex by turn 2 or 3, well ahead of opponents who rely on incremental evolution.

Rotate Freely with Rising Road

Keep Solgaleo ex on the Bench between attacks so Rising Road is always available. You choose when to bring it Active, eliminating the risk of being forced into an unfavorable position. Use Big Air Balloon or Cyrus to manage the Active slot on turns when Solgaleo ex needs to recover from recoil.

Use Eevee-Line Support to Shore Up Gaps

Sylveon ex and Vaporeon ex provide supplemental utility depending on what the matchup demands. Search Eevee with Poke Ball to guarantee the basic, then evolve naturally through draw. Having multiple support bodies in reserve lets you pivot off a damaged Solgaleo ex without losing tempo.

How to Beat This Deck

Target Cosmog Before It Evolves

Solgaleo ex cannot function without Cosmog reaching Stage 2. Pressure the Bench early to knock out Cosmog before Rare Candy appears. Sabrina can pull Cosmog from the Bench into the Active Spot, turning an unanswerable Setup target into a free 1-point knockout.

CountersSabrina

Exploit the Recoil Accumulation

Sol Breaker deals 10 damage back to Solgaleo ex every use. Let it attack repeatedly until the self-damage stacks, then knock it out at reduced HP with a lower-cost attacker. At 180 HP, only three Sol Breaker uses leave it at 150 — removing 30 HP worth of safety margin.

Run Magnezone or Denial Supporters

Magnezone-based decks are listed at a 25% win rate for Solgaleo ex, making them a hard counter. Energy lock and attack disruption through Cyrus and Mars used against the Solgaleo player can slow the setup window enough that the Stage 2 line never comes online in time.
