Strengths

  • Legendary Pulse draws a card every turn Entei ex stays active, building the hand advantage needed to deploy Mega Charizard partners.
  • Flame Patch places Fire Energy on Bench Pokemon passively, removing the energy cost of powering up two attackers simultaneously.
  • Mega Charizard Y ex and Mega Charizard X ex serve as high-HP late-game threats that opponents must address differently than Entei ex.

Weaknesses

  • As an ex, losing Entei ex gives the opponent 2 points and shuts off the Legendary Pulse draw engine.ex KO
  • Glaceon ex (25%) and Slaking Deck (25%) shut down Entei ex's offense before it generates enough energy.Matchup
  • Blazing Beatdown requires four Fire Energy; without Flame Patch acceleration the damage output stays at 60.Consistency

Key Moves & Abilities

AbilityLegendary Pulse(Entei ex)

At the end of your turn, if this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, draw a card.

Blazing Beatdown(Entei ex)
60

If this Pokémon has at least 2 extra {R} Energy attached, this attack does 60 more damage.

Strategy Guide

Auto-generated

Entei ex uses its Legendary Pulse ability to draw a card every turn it sits in the Active Spot, building hand advantage while threatening Blazing Beatdown for up to 120 damage at four Fire Energy. The deck pairs Entei ex with Mega Charizard Y ex and Mega Charizard X ex as closing threats.

Open by placing Entei ex in the Active Spot to activate Legendary Pulse immediately, drawing an extra card each turn to find Charmander and critical trainers. Use Flame Patch to place Fire Energy on Bench Pokemon passively while Entei ex draws, accelerating toward the four-energy Blazing Beatdown. Mid-game, May and Sabrina provide targeting control while Charmeleon evolves toward Mega Charizard Y ex or Mega Charizard X ex on the Bench. Finish by either sweeping with Blazing Beatdown when Entei ex has four-plus Fire Energy, or pivoting to a Mega Charizard for high-damage closing turns.

Damage Math

Blazing Beatdown with 4+ Fire Energy

60 base + 60 bonus (2 extra Fire Energy) = 120 damage

Requires at least 2 Fire Energy beyond the base cost of 2; Flame Patch accelerates bench energy buildup

How to Play

Draw with Legendary Pulse While Building Bench Energy

Entei ex's ability triggers at end of turn while it is Active, so keep it in front throughout the early game. Use Flame Patch every turn to load Fire Energy on your Bench Charmander or Charmeleon. Each draw step brings you closer to Mega Charizard options while Entei ex simultaneously threatens Blazing Beatdown against weaker targets.

Pivot to Mega Charizard for Closing Power

Mega Charizard Y ex and Mega Charizard X ex sit on the Bench absorbing Flame Patch energy during the Entei ex opening phase. Once ready, pivot them into the Active Spot to deliver massive damage. May and Sabrina help control which of the opponent's targets enters the Active Spot, ensuring your closing attacks land where they generate the most points.

How to Beat This Deck

Remove Entei ex Before It Draws Too Many Cards

Legendary Pulse only fires when Entei ex stays in the Active Spot. Decks with early knockouts can prevent the draw engine from running by targeting Entei ex directly with type-advantage attackers. Scoring 2 points on it before it cycles two or three extra cards denies the opponent the hand depth needed to assemble Mega Charizard.

CountersGlaceon ex

Deny Flame Patch Energy Accumulation

Flame Patch accelerates the entire deck by loading energy onto Bench Pokemon passively. Use Cyrus to pull pre-loaded Bench Pokemon into the Active Spot for a knockout, removing the energy investment before it can be used. This resets the Mega Charizard charge counter and forces the opponent to restart the energy accumulation cycle.

CountersCyrus

Target the Mega Charizard Copies Directly

If a Mega Charizard ex is knocked out, the opponent wins 3 points instantly and the game ends. The deck only runs one Mega Charizard Y ex and one Mega Charizard X ex. Forcing them into the Active Spot early via Sabrina before they are fully charged, then knocking one out, ends the match immediately.
