During your next turn, this Pokémon's Overdrive Smash attack does +60 damage.
If any damage is done to this Pokémon by attacks, flip a coin. If heads, prevent that damage.
Togekiss wins through two different Stage 2 bodies: the Overdrive Smash variant builds to 120 damage on alternating turns while the Celestial Blessing variant uses a coin-flip damage prevention ability to survive long enough to close games. The goal is to reach full evolution and then exploit one of these two unique payoffs to outscore the opponent.
Open with Togepi and bench support basics like Litwick or Pumpkaboo, using Professor's Research, Lisia, and Copycat to dig toward Rare Candy and the Togekiss line. Mid-game you choose which Togekiss to lead with: Overdrive Smash builds momentum by dealing 60 damage on the setup turn and 120 on the following turn, while Celestial Blessing's coin-flip prevention can deflect full attacks. In the finishing turns you aim to close out with the 120-damage Overdrive Smash swing or use Cynthia and Lucky Ice Pop to extend survivability and keep Celestial Blessing Togekiss in play.
Any 120-HP target
Overdrive Smash base 60 + next-turn bonus 60 = 120 dmg
Togekiss must survive the turn between attacks to collect the bonus
Lead with Togekiss using Overdrive Smash and accept the 60-damage first swing. Use Cynthia or Lucky Ice Pop the following turn to keep Togekiss alive, then deliver the 120-damage powered swing. Two cycles of this pattern can score three KOs on non-ex targets or a single 120-damage KO on a beefier threat.
Place the Celestial Blessing Togekiss in the active spot when you expect the opponent to attack for a large amount. The 50% damage prevention proc can save Togekiss from a would-be KO, buying you the extra turn needed to complete your Overdrive Smash setup on the bench or finish off a weakened opposing target with Magical Shot.
Togekiss must survive the setup turn to access the 120-damage follow-up. Any attacker that deals 140 or more damage in a single hit knocks out the 140-HP Togekiss before it cashes in the bonus. Focus all resources into one explosive swing rather than splitting damage across multiple targets.
Celestial Blessing only prevents damage on a heads result. Use multiple small hits across turns to chip Togekiss down rather than swinging for one large number. Bench-targeting effects like Water Shuriken bypass the active-slot coin flip entirely and accumulate damage without triggering the ability.
Togekiss needs Togepi, Togetic, and Togekiss all in play — Rare Candy can skip one step but the full line must still be drawn. Red Card at the right moment can break the chain and force a hand reload that may not include the missing piece, keeping Togekiss off the board for several turns.
