Glaceon ex uses its Snowy Terrain ability to deal 10 passive damage to the opponent's Active Pokemon each Checkup phase while building toward Freezing Wind for 90 damage. The win condition is combining Snowy Terrain chip with Freezing Wind to reach KO thresholds that 90 damage alone would miss.
You open by using Poké Ball to find Eevee, then evolve to Glaceon ex or Glaceon from hand draw after Poké Ball fills the basic slot. Eevee Bag accelerates the Eevee-line search beyond what Poké Ball alone provides. Glaceon ex must occupy the Active Spot for Snowy Terrain to tick, so you manage energy attachment for Freezing Wind's Water-Water-Colorless cost across turns. In the mid-game, Training Area and Inflatable Boat round out your supporter suite for energy and switching. Vaporeon ex and Eevee ex in the build provide secondary options when Glaceon ex is threatened. Glaceon (non-ex) rounds out the Eeveelution suite for low-point-exposure backup.
Opponent's Active Pokemon — Snowy Terrain plus Freezing Wind
Snowy Terrain 10 per Checkup + Freezing Wind 90 = varies by ticks accumulated
After 2 Checkup ticks (20 chip), Freezing Wind totals 110 effective — enough to KO most 100-110 HP non-ex Pokemon outright.
Snowy Terrain only activates while Glaceon ex is Active. Every turn Glaceon ex is in the Active Spot, the opponent's current attacker accrues 10 damage at no attack cost. You need at least two Checkup ticks before Freezing Wind can close out a 110-HP target in one swing. Use Inflatable Boat for pivot flexibility without losing the Snowy Terrain streak.
Poké Ball finds Eevee, and Eevee Bag accelerates additional Eevee search or helps identify which Eeveelution to prioritize. Glaceon ex as the primary line requires immediate Active placement; Vaporeon ex and Glaceon sit on the bench as backup. Professor's Research and Copycat provide the draw needed to find Glaceon ex and the remaining energy for Freezing Wind.
When Glaceon ex is low on HP or outmatched, switch to Vaporeon ex or Eevee ex from the bench. Glaceon (non-ex) provides a low-point-exposure option that only gives the opponent 1 point if knocked out rather than 2. Cyrus disrupts the opponent's Active positioning before you commit to the switch.
Freezing Wind costs three energy — Glaceon ex needs two or three turns of energy attachment before it can attack. During that window, Glaceon ex is dealing only 10 Snowy Terrain chip per turn. An attacker that can reach Glaceon ex's HP in two hits (before it fires Freezing Wind) scores 2 points while denying the opponent any knockout points in return.
Snowy Terrain chips the Active Pokemon, not the bench. Use Cyrus or retreat effects to rotate a fresh, unchipped Pokemon into the Active Spot rather than leaving a weakened attacker to accumulate Snowy Terrain ticks. This forces Glaceon ex to rebuild chip accumulation from zero each time, delaying the effective range of Freezing Wind finishes.
Water-type Pokemon are weak to Lightning and Dragon attacks in Pocket. Garchomp ex and Mega Gyarados ex both score at 25% against Glaceon ex — confirming that Dragon-type coverage hard-counters the archetype. Bring a Dragon or Lightning attacker that can one-shot 140-HP Glaceon ex before Snowy Terrain chip completes its work.
