Dynamite Punch(Annihilape)
90

This Pokémon also does 30 damage to itself.

Strategy Guide

Auto-generated

Annihilape delivers 90 damage for a single Fighting Energy with Dynamite Punch, trading 30 self-damage for one of the most energy-efficient knockouts in the format. The win condition is scoring rapid 1-point knockouts with a non-ex Stage 2 that forces the opponent to KO three separate Pokemon to win.

Open by benching Mankey and using Poké Ball, Professor's Research, and Copycat to develop the board while attaching energy. Rare Candy accelerates Mankey directly to Annihilape, skipping Primeape — a critical tempo gain that the 84% Rare Candy inclusion rate reflects. Mid-game you attack with Dynamite Punch every turn, accepting the 30 self-damage in exchange for consistent 90-damage output. Sandshrew, Sandslash, Hitmonchan, and the Rampardos line provide bench options when Annihilape accumulates too much self-damage. Cyrus and Sabrina manage the active slot, and Mesagoza supports the fighting-type theme.

Damage Math

Dynamite Punch base 90 dmg at [Fighting]

Annihilape also takes 30 self-damage each use; Giant Cape or Pokémon Center Lady can offset the self-damage accumulation

Strengths

  • 90 damage for one Fighting Energy is extraordinary efficiency — Annihilape reaches lethal attacks turns ahead of most three-energy attackers.
  • Non-ex status means the opponent must score three separate knockouts to win; each Annihilape KO costs them only 1 point.
  • Rare Candy skips the Primeape stage, letting Annihilape reach the field as early as turn 3 with a single energy already attached.

Weaknesses

  • Dynamite Punch deals 30 self-damage each turn; after three attacks without healing, Annihilape knocks itself out.Other
  • Stoutland, Toxapex, and Slurpuff matchups all sit at 25%, indicating specific counters exploit Annihilape's self-damage or typing.Matchup
  • Single-copy Stage 2 dependency in many builds; if Annihilape is knocked out early the deck must redeploy through a fresh Mankey-into-Rare Candy sequence.Consistency

How to Play

Deploy Annihilape Early Via Rare Candy

Rare Candy on Mankey skips Primeape entirely, bringing a 140 HP attacker online by turn 3. The faster Annihilape attacks, the more Dynamite Punch cycles you get before self-damage becomes lethal. Use Professor's Research and Copycat aggressively in the first two turns to find Rare Candy alongside a basic attacker.

Manage Self-Damage With Healing and Bench Rotation

After three Dynamite Punch uses, Annihilape has taken 90 self-damage. Giant Cape adds HP buffer, and Pokémon Center Lady can clear damage before the threshold is dangerous. When Annihilape is near 50 HP, rotate to Hitmonchan, Sandslash, or Rampardos to apply continued Fighting pressure without abandoning the board.

How to Beat This Deck

Accelerate Annihilape Self-Damage Through Rocky Helmet

Annihilape already deals 30 self-damage each turn. If you attach Rocky Helmet to your own Active Pokemon, each Dynamite Punch adds more damage to Annihilape on top of the self-inflicted 30. Two or three Rocky Helmet triggers dramatically shorten how many attacks the Annihilape player gets before it KOs itself.

Exploit Type Matchups With Psychic or Ghost

Fighting-type Pokemon are commonly weak to Psychic. Lunala ex, Gengar ex, and other high-damage Psychic attackers can threaten Annihilape's 140 HP with type-boosted damage, turning its self-damage accumulation into a race condition it cannot win.

Force Multiple KOs Through Bench Pressure

The Annihilape player typically fields a rotation of Rampardos, Hitmonchan, and Sandslash as backups. Each of those is 1 point. Applying bench damage to weaken the backup attackers before Annihilape falls forces them into suboptimal follow-ups and accelerates the 3-point win condition on your side.

Common Substitutions

Secondary attacker

  • Rampardos:Cranidos/Rampardos line appears in 42% of lists as a high-damage Fighting backup
  • Hitmonchan:Non-ex Fighting attacker in the top build; immediate bench damage pressure
  • Sandslash:Sandshrew/Sandslash line provides another non-ex Fighting option in the top build
