Strengths

  • Psychic scales with the opponent's energy, meaning fast energy-acceleration decks inadvertently increase Indeedee ex's damage output.
  • Watch Over heals 20 damage each turn, effectively giving Indeedee ex over 150 functional HP against slow attackers.
  • Giratina ex and Darkrai ex on the Bench provide strong secondary attackers if Indeedee ex is KO'd.

Weaknesses

  • Indeedee ex is a 2-point target; losing it hands the opponent a major lead toward their 3-point goal.ex KO
  • Psychic deals only 30 base damage against opponents who attack with 0 energy attached, limiting damage against energy-light decks.Matchup
  • The deck has no fast setup and relies on draw supporters; a slow start leaves Indeedee ex under-powered early.Consistency

Key Moves & Abilities

AbilityWatch Over(Indeedee ex)

Once during your turn, you may heal 20 damage from your Active Pokémon.

Strategy Guide

Auto-generated

Indeedee ex uses its Psychic attack to scale damage off the energy attached to the opponent's Active Pokémon, punishing energy-hungry decks. The Watch Over ability heals 20 damage per turn, letting Indeedee ex outlast attackers in long exchanges.

Open by establishing Indeedee ex in the Active Spot, supported by Giratina ex or Darkrai ex on the Bench as backup attackers. Mid-game, stack energy on your opponent's Active Pokémon — or wait for them to do it naturally — and swing with Psychic for bonus damage. Use the Watch Over heal every turn to stretch Indeedee ex's 130 HP. In the finishing turns, pivot to Darkrai ex or Giratina ex if Indeedee ex falls.

Damage Math

Opponent's Active with 2 Energy attached

base 30 + (30 × 2 Energy) = 90

Psychic attack; each energy on the opponent's Active adds 30 damage.

Opponent's Active with 3 Energy attached

base 30 + (30 × 3 Energy) = 120

Enough to threaten KO on most non-ex Pokémon.

How to Play

Exploit Energy-Heavy Opponents with Psychic Scaling

Indeedee ex's Psychic does 30 base damage plus 30 for each energy on the opponent's Active Pokémon. Against decks that need 2-3 energy to attack — like Dialga ex or water-heavy builds — you deal 90-120 damage per swing without any additional buffs. Prioritize these matchups where your damage scales naturally.

Sustain with Watch Over and Healing Items

Use Watch Over every turn to erase 20 damage from your Active Pokémon, keeping Indeedee ex in the Active Spot as long as possible. Supplement with Lucky Ice Pop or Pokémon Center Lady from flex slots to push further. Rocky Helmet punishes any attacker that hits Indeedee ex, adding chip damage pressure on top of your healing.

Back Up with Giratina ex and Darkrai ex

Giratina ex and Darkrai ex sit on the Bench as ready secondary attackers. If Indeedee ex falls, pivot immediately to whichever attacker is powered up. Oricorio provides additional utility in matchups where you need to manage the opponent's Bench. Cyrus and Sabrina help control which Pokémon you face.

How to Beat This Deck

Attack with Minimal Energy to Cap Damage

Indeedee ex's Psychic scales off energy on your Active Pokémon. Use attackers that need only 1 energy — or attack with Pokémon that have already expended their energy — to keep Psychic damage at 60 or below. This keeps Indeedee ex from reaching KO thresholds before your own attacker finishes it off.

Overwhelm the Heal with High-Damage Single Hits

Watch Over only heals 20 damage per turn. Any attacker capable of dealing 130 or more damage in one hit KOs Indeedee ex outright, bypassing the healing entirely. Baxcalibur-powered water attackers or boosted fire attackers can reach these thresholds and end the Indeedee ex healing loop immediately.

Punish the Colorless Bench with Spread or Bench Damage

Giratina ex and Darkrai ex typically sit unpowered on the Bench early. Any card that deals Bench damage can chip those secondary attackers before they are ready. Forcing the Indeedee ex player to pivot to a damaged backup attacker speeds up your point scoring considerably.

Common Substitutions

Secondary attackers

  • Giratina ex:Strong Bench attacker present in the top build; provides a secondary 2-point threat.
  • Darkrai ex:Another ex attacker from the top build; paired with Giratina ex for redundancy.
  • Guzzlord ex:Flex slot inclusion in 26% of meta lists; offers a bulkier alternative finisher.

Healing support

  • Lucky Ice Pop:49% inclusion in meta lists; supplements Watch Over healing.
  • Pokémon Center Lady:44% inclusion; burst healing option when chip damage accumulates.
