Zoroark ex wins by packing your Dark bench and hitting 120 damage with Brutal Bash using a single Darkness energy. The deck floods the bench with Darkness-type support Pokemon and converts that presence directly into KO power.
You open by placing Zorua and using Poké Ball to find a second one, then fill your bench with Darkrai ex, Mega Absol ex, and Bombirdier. Once Zoroark ex is evolved, Brutal Bash deals 30 damage multiplied by the number of Darkness Pokemon on your bench — with a full bench of three, that is 30 base plus 90 bonus totalling 120. Sabrina and Cyrus manipulate which Pokemon takes hits, while Rocky Helmet punishes opposing attackers for hitting into your board.
Any Active Pokemon
Brutal Bash: 30 base + 30 per Benched Darkness Pokemon; 3 Benched Darkness = 30 + 90 = 120 total
Maximum bench fill gives 120 damage for one Darkness energy, scaling with each additional Dark bencher
Place Darkrai ex, Mega Absol ex, and Bombirdier onto your bench as fast as possible. Every Darkness Pokemon there adds 30 to Brutal Bash. With three bench slots filled by Darkness types, Zoroark ex hits 120 damage for a single energy — enough to threaten most non-ex Pokemon in one shot and heavily damage ex targets.
Use Sabrina to pull a damaged or weak benched Pokemon into the active slot where Brutal Bash finishes it. Cyrus forces your opponent to swap, putting a target of your choosing in harm's way. Coordinating these Trainers around Zoroark ex attacks lets you score points on your schedule rather than reacting to your opponent.
Zoroark ex's damage output is entirely bench-dependent. Any effect that removes or displaces Darkness-type benched Pokemon directly lowers Brutal Bash's damage ceiling. Forcing the opponent to retreat Darkrai ex or Mega Absol ex off the bench — or knocking them out — cuts damage by 30 per removal.
Rocky Helmet punishes you for attacking into the board. Using Field Blower to remove Rocky Helmet before committing your main attacker prevents the passive damage from accumulating. Stripping tools also removes other defensive items that keep Zoroark ex alive longer than it should.
Zoroark ex needs a full bench to hit threatening numbers. If you score aggressive knockouts in the first two turns — before Darkrai ex and Mega Absol ex settle in — the deck never reaches its damage ceiling. Fast ex or Mega ex decks that score 2 points in the early turns force Zoroark ex into a catch-up position.
