Guzzlord ex wins by stalling with energy disruption and heavy damage reduction until Tyrannical Hole scores 2-point knockouts on ex attackers. The deck layers protective tools and healing to survive long enough to close out 3 points.
Open by benching Indeedee ex and attaching energy to Guzzlord ex; use Poké Ball to find Guzzlord ex on turn 1. Mid-game, use Grindcore to strip energy from your opponent's Active, buying turns while Lucky Ice Pop and Pokémon Center Lady heal damage. Starting Plains gives all Basic Pokémon in play +20 HP, extending Guzzlord ex's effective durability. Cyrus pulls a damaged benched opponent Pokémon to the Active spot, disrupting the opponent's preferred attacker. In the final turns, land Tyrannical Hole for 120 damage to knock out ex attackers and reach 3 points first.

Tyrannical Hole base 120 dmg
Knocks out most ex Pokémon in two hits; the second ex KO brings you to 3 points for the win
Attack with Grindcore as soon as 2 colorless energy are attached. Each heads removes one energy from the opponent's Active, delaying their powered-up attacker by a full turn. Against Exeggutor ex and Mew ex, repeated energy removal often denies them the attack entirely, letting you dictate the pace of the game.
Equip Heavy Helmet before committing Guzzlord ex to extended combat; its retreat cost of 4 qualifies it for the −20 damage reduction. Use Protective Poncho on a benched Guzzlord ex to prevent all bench damage while it waits. Use Pokémon Center Lady and Lucky Ice Pop to undo chip damage. Once 4 energy are attached, Tyrannical Hole deals 120 damage — enough to two-shot nearly every ex attacker.
Lusamine can only be played after your opponent earns at least 1 point, but once that condition is met, it attaches 2 random Energy from your discard pile to one of your Ultra Beasts. This turbocharges Guzzlord ex toward Tyrannical Hole's 4-energy cost and is especially powerful after a Grindcore turn that burned through your energy attachment.
Decks like Weavile ex that can deal 120 or more damage quickly bypass Grindcore turns entirely. If you can knock out Guzzlord ex before it attaches 4 energy, you earn 2 points and force the opponent to reset. Keep the pressure high and avoid letting Pokémon Center Lady erase your progress.
Guzma discards all Pokémon Tool cards attached to each of your opponent's Pokémon in one shot. Against Guzzlord ex, this removes Heavy Helmet and Protective Poncho simultaneously, stripping the deck's primary damage-reduction layer. Without those tools, Guzzlord ex's 170 HP becomes far easier to chip down with regular attacks.
Palkia ex's bench-spread damage can chip Indeedee ex and Guzzlord ex simultaneously. Spread damage forces the opponent to spread healing resources across multiple targets. Reach the 3-point threshold before Heavy Helmet can stabilize the board.
