Heal 20 damage from this Pokémon.
Primarina ex (180 HP) wins by leveraging Hydro Pump's scalable damage — 40 base plus 40 more with an extra water energy attached — and Sparkling Aria's 100 damage with 20 self-healing to become one of the most resilient Stage 2 ex attackers in the game. The deck pairs Primarina ex with Darkrai and Igglybuff to fill the bench while the water line sets up.
Open by finding Popplio with Poké Ball and benching Darkrai and Igglybuff alongside it. Use Professor's Research, Copycat, and Rare Candy to evolve Popplio toward Primarina ex. Memory Light supports evolution line continuity. Once Primarina ex is active with two or more water energy, Hydro Pump deals 80 when a second water is attached; three water energy unlocks Sparkling Aria for 100 plus 20 healing. Leaf and Cyrus help manage the opponent's board while you build.
Hydro Pump with 1 Water Energy attached
base 40 damage
Minimum output; not efficient for trading against ex Pokemon
Hydro Pump with 2 Water Energies attached
base 40 + 40 = 80 damage
Efficient trading threshold; available with two water energy
Sparkling Aria with 3 Water Energies
100 damage + 20 heal
Full-power mode; net effective HP restoration extends Primarina ex's survivability
Attach water energy to Primarina ex every turn. With two energy Hydro Pump hits 80; with three, Sparkling Aria deals 100 and heals 20. The healing compounds over multiple turns, effectively raising Primarina ex's HP ceiling well beyond 180. Sabrina can pull a damaged Pokemon off the bench if needed.
Darkrai and Igglybuff fill out the bench without handing the opponent 2 points on knockout. Leaf and Cyrus supplement the trainer suite to manage the opponent's board while Primarina ex charges. Memory Light assists with the evolution chain when natural draw is slow.
Melmetal ex at 25% favorable win rate for Primarina ex indicates electric and metal type attacks are highly effective. Electric attackers with 70+ base damage exploit water weakness to one-shot or pressure Primarina ex before it accumulates the three energy needed for Sparkling Aria's healing to matter.
Primarina ex needs either two natural evolution steps or Rare Candy to reach Stage 2. Disrupting hand quality with Mars-style discard effects or bench-sniping Popplio before it can evolve collapses the deck's only real win condition. A knocked-out Popplio scores only 1 point but removes the entire attacker pipeline.
Sparkling Aria heals 20 per turn. An attacker that deals 80 or more per turn on 180 HP forces a two-turn knockout even accounting for healing. Stack chip damage with bench-splash attacks on turn one, then finish Primarina ex with a full attack next turn before it can use Sparkling Aria a second time.
