Once the lock is established, the opponent must advance through natural draw alone while Gengar ex chips them down backed by Mega Gardevoir ex and Meloetta.
Open by finding Gastly with Poke Ball and using Professor's Research and Rare Candy to accelerate toward Gengar ex. Once Gengar ex hits the Active Spot, Shadowy Spellbind blocks the opponent from playing any Supporter cards for as long as Gengar ex stays Active. Mid-game you fire Spooky Shot for 100 every turn, denying the opponent the research and draw they need to respond. Meloetta and Mega Gardevoir ex serve as secondary threats. How to Play
Establish the Supporter Lock Early

Move Gengar ex Active before the opponent can set up their attacker.
Back Up Gengar ex with Mega Gardevoir ex
Gengar ex is a single copy in the top build. Pair it with Ralts evolving into Mega Gardevoir ex as a secondary threat that can attack independently if Gengar ex falls. Diantha supports Gardevoir ex specifically. Use Peculiar Plaza to set up the field and Rocky Helmet to punish attacks on Gengar ex.
How to Beat This Deck
Knock Out Gengar ex to Break the Lock
Shadowy Spellbind only works while Gengar ex is Active. A single knockout removes the lock entirely. Focus all attacking resources on Gengar ex — it has 170 HP as a Stage 2, but at 3 Psychic energy per attack it must charge up over multiple turns, giving you a window to knock it out before it fires.
Use Items and Abilities Instead of Supporters
Shadowy Spellbind blocks Supporter cards only. Decks that rely primarily on Item cards, Abilities, and Poke Ball to function continue operating normally under the lock. Building a list that minimizes Supporter dependency reduces how much Shadowy Spellbind actually hurts you.
Deploy Faster Psychic Attackers
Indeedee ex and Espeon ex are listed as hard counters. Psychic attackers that hit Gengar ex for weakness can knock it out before Spooky Shot accumulates enough chip damage. At 100 damage per turn, Gengar ex needs two hits to knock out most ex attackers — a faster psychic-effective attacker denies those two turns.
