Dialga ex uses Metallic Turbo to simultaneously attack for 30 damage and accelerate two metal energy to a benched Skarmory ex, building toward Heavy Impact's 100-damage finishes. The win condition is loading Skarmory ex as a fully charged alternate threat while Dialga ex softens targets.
Open with two Dialga ex using Poké Ball and bench two Skarmory ex immediately. Metallic Turbo every turn deals 30 damage to the Active while depositing two metal energy on Skarmory ex — within two Turbo turns, Skarmory ex has four metal energy ready. Adaman and Metal Core Barrier protect Dialga ex from being knocked out before it finishes the energy pipeline. Pokémon Center Lady and Potion sustain Dialga ex long enough to fire multiple Turbos. Once Skarmory ex is fully charged, bring it up to fire Heavy Impact at 100 or its own attacks while Dialga ex rotates back to charge the next threat.
Opponent's Active Pokemon
Heavy Impact 100 damage (flat)
Requires four energy total on Dialga ex: two metal plus two colorless; typically charged via multiple Metallic Turbo turns.
Benched Skarmory ex via Metallic Turbo
Turbo attaches 2 metal energy per turn × 2 turns = 4 energy total
Two Metallic Turbo activations fully charge a fresh Skarmory ex from zero.
Every Metallic Turbo turn accomplishes two goals: 30 damage to the opponent's Active and two free metal energy on Skarmory ex. Adaman provides additional energy support. Prioritize two Turbo activations before swapping to Skarmory ex to ensure it enters the Active Spot with full energy. Lucky Ice Pop and Potion keep Dialga ex healthy during the pipeline.
Metal Core Barrier reduces damage taken, extending Dialga ex's time in the Active Spot for additional Turbo turns. Pokémon Center Lady heals between turns. Steel Apron may reduce damage on benched Dialga ex. Guzma forces a damaged opponent's Pokemon into the Active Spot before Heavy Impact for a knockout, while Hiking Trail adjusts retreat costs.
Skarmory ex needs two Metallic Turbo activations to be fully charged. If you knock out Dialga ex on turn two, Skarmory ex enters with only zero to two energy and cannot fire its best attack. Fast 150+ damage attackers or two-turn assassination plans collapse the pipeline before it pays off.
Guzma swaps the opponent's Active with a benched Pokemon of your choice. Forcing Skarmory ex or a half-charged Dialga ex into the Active Spot before it has enough energy wastes its attack and gives you a free damage turn. This is especially punishing when Dialga ex is benched and Skarmory ex is active with insufficient energy.
Metal-type Pokemon take increased damage from fighting-type attacks and specific type matchups. Magnezone's 25% win rate for this deck demonstrates how decks that match the weakness can two-shot or one-shot Dialga ex before Metal Core Barrier buys enough time. Stacking electric or fighting pressure overwhelms the healing package.
