Once during your turn, you may discard 1 Fire Energy from this Pokémon in order to use this Ability. During this turn, attacks used by your Fire Pokémon do +50 damage to your opponent's Active Pokémon.
Skeledirge's Passionate Voice ability discards one Fire energy from itself to grant all your Fire Pokemon +50 damage for the turn. The win condition is activating that boost on a Fire attacker each turn to reach one-shot KO thresholds that would otherwise be out of reach.
Open by finding Fuecoco with Poké Ball, then evolve to Skeledirge through Professor's Research, Copycat, and Rare Candy — skipping Crocalor when possible. Flame Patch pre-loads energy on the bench to ensure Skeledirge can use Passionate Voice the turn it enters the active spot. Once Passionate Voice is online, your Fire attackers like Castform Sunny Form or Chi-Yu deal +50 damage — pushing their hits into KO range. The deck runs lean on copies of each Pokemon, so protecting Skeledirge from early knockouts is important; losing it before it uses Passionate Voice collapses the damage boost.
Skeledirge's own Heat Crash with Passionate Voice active
Heat Crash base 70 + Passionate Voice 50 = 120 total
Passionate Voice requires discarding 1 Fire energy from Skeledirge each use
Any other Fire attacker with Passionate Voice active
Base damage + 50 = boosted output
Castform Sunny Form and Chi-Yu are the primary beneficiaries of this boost in the top builds
Skeledirge's core role is not attacking — it is boosting. Use Passionate Voice once per turn to give your active Fire attacker +50 damage. Flame Patch replaces the discarded energy before the next turn. With Castform Sunny Form and Chi-Yu dealing boosted damage, opponents must deal 150+ damage to KO Skeledirge while your attackers are one-shotting their team.
Skeledirge's Passionate Voice is worthless if it arrives two turns after the opponent has already scored 2-3 KOs. Rare Candy skips the Crocalor middle stage to land Skeledirge as early as turn 3-4. Professor's Research and Copycat find Rare Candy in time. Cyrus disruption on the setup turns buys extra time for Skeledirge to arrive and activate.
Without Passionate Voice, this deck's Fire attackers deal unexceptional damage. At 150 HP with retreat cost 3, Skeledirge often sits as the active attacker. A deck that can deal 150 damage in two hits, or one hit with weakness, removes the boost engine before it generates any return. The medoid list runs only 2 Fuecoco and 2 Skeledirge, so one KO is a major setback.
Passionate Voice fires once per turn and costs Skeledirge a Fire energy each time. Without Flame Patch refilling that energy each turn, Skeledirge eventually exhausts its fuel. Disrupting the Flame Patch cycle — even for a single turn — normalizes your opponent's Fire attackers to their unmodified base damage and may leave Skeledirge unable to boost at all.
Kingambit decks sit at 25% win rate for Skeledirge, indicating dark-type coverage shuts down this fire-centric strategy. Attackers that resist Fire or apply dark-type weakness to Skeledirge bypass the boosted damage advantage. Castform Sunny Form decks at 28% also suggest weather-based strategies create structural problems for the boost plan.
