Discard a {F} Energy from this Pokémon.
Lycanroc ex swings for 130 damage with Lycanfang at the cost of discarding a Fighting energy each turn, aiming to score 2-point KOs on opposing ex Pokemon before the energy drain becomes unmanageable. The deck wins by out-damaging the opponent in a short, explosive exchange.
Start with Rockruff and use Poke Ball to secure it on turn 1. Professor's Research and Copycat draw into Lycanroc ex from natural draws, as no search trainer in the list fetches Stage 1 evolutions. Once Lycanroc ex is Active, Lycanfang at [Fighting,Fighting,Colorless] hits for 130 and discards one Fighting energy, so you need to re-attach each turn to sustain the attack chain. Use Arena of Antiquity for stadium control and Rocky Helmet to punish physical contact. Marshadow and Mantyke serve as utility Bench fillers. Finish the game by targeting ex Pokemon: a single Lycanfang KO scores 2 points, meaning two ex KOs win outright.
Opposing ex Pokemon
Lycanfang 130 damage — discards 1 Fighting energy; most ex Pokemon have 150-180 HP so two hits are needed
KO of an ex scores 2 points; two ex KOs is a 3-point win
Use Poke Ball to search Rockruff on turn 1, then draw into Lycanroc ex through Professor's Research and Copycat. Aim to attack with Lycanfang as early as possible to put 130 damage on an ex target. Red can boost damage in critical turns. X Speed reduces retreat cost to reposition when needed.
Attaching Rocky Helmet to Lycanroc ex or a Bench Pokemon punishes the opponent for attacking into you. This chip damage stacks with Lycanfang's hits, shortening the turns needed to reach a KO threshold. Arena of Antiquity controls the stadium slot and supports a fighting-type game state.
Lycanfang forces a Fighting energy discard every turn. If the opponent fails to reattach an energy, Lycanroc ex cannot attack. Apply early pressure to force suboptimal retreats, wasting energy attachments on retreat costs rather than on Lycanfang, and stall out the deck's limited offensive turns.
Lycanroc ex at 150 HP gives the opponent 2 points on KO. Any attacker capable of reaching 150 damage in two hits or fewer can race to 2 points quickly. Combined with a single prior KO of a non-ex, this immediately wins the game at 3 points.
Fighting-type Pokemon are typically weak to Psychic. A Psychic attacker can KO Lycanroc ex for twice the expected damage, bypassing the 150 HP bulk entirely. This is especially effective before the opponent has attached Rocky Helmet for passive chip-damage defense.
