Everything you need to know about trading cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket

How Trading Works

Pokemon TCG Pocket introduced trading to help players complete their collections and build competitive decks without relying solely on pack luck. The system uses Trade Tokens as currency, which you earn by opening duplicate cards.

Unlike some games, you can't trade any card for any card — both players need to spend tokens, and some cards are permanently trade-locked.

Wonder Pick

Wonder Pick lets you grab a random card from another player's recently opened pack. You see the 5 cards face-down and pick one blindly.

Pros

  • • Free way to get cards from sets you're not opening
  • • Can snag rares if you're lucky
  • • Stamina regenerates for free

Cons

  • • Completely random — you can't choose which card
  • • Limited by stamina (a few picks per day)
  • • Mostly yields commons and uncommons

Smart Trading Tips

  1. Focus packs on one set — open packs from one set to maximize duplicates and Trade Tokens, then trade for cards from other sets.
  2. Trade for competitive staples first — get the EX cards and key trainers you need for your meta deck before chasing collectibles.
  3. Check tradeability before pulling — Immersive and Crown Rare cards can't be traded, so you must pull them yourself.
  4. Use the pull rate calculator — before spending tokens, calculate whether it's cheaper to open more packs or trade.
