Pack Points Guide

How Pack Points work in Pokemon TCG Pocket and how to spend them wisely

What Are Pack Points?

Pack Points are a currency in Pokemon TCG Pocket that let you craft specific cards instead of relying on random pulls. Every time you open a booster pack, you earn Pack Points that accumulate toward redeeming the exact card you want.

Think of Pack Points as a pity system with a purpose: even if you never pull that Crown Rare, you're steadily making progress toward getting it through points. They're one of the most important resources in the game for completing your collection efficiently.

How to Earn Pack Points

Earning Pack Points is simple: open booster packs. Every pack you open gives you 5 Pack Points, no matter what cards are inside.

Important: Pack Points are set-specific. Points from Genetic Apex packs can only redeem Genetic Apex cards. They don't carry over or combine with points from other expansions. This means you should plan which set to focus your pack openings on.

Strategy Tips

  1. Save points for high-rarity cards — don't waste Pack Points on Commons and Uncommons. You'll pull those naturally from packs. Focus your points on Super Rares, Special Art Rares, and Crown Rares.
  2. Commit to one set — since Pack Points are set-specific, choose the expansion where you need the most cards and focus your pack openings there. Spreading packs across sets means your points accumulate slower everywhere.
  3. Check which cards you need for your deck — if you need a specific EX card for a meta deck, calculate whether opening more packs or spending Pack Points gets you there faster.
  4. Use the pull rate calculator calculate your odds to see how many packs you'd likely need to pull a specific card, then compare that to the Pack Points cost.

Pack Points vs Pull Rates

Should you keep opening packs and hope for the pull, or save your Pack Points? Here's a comparison of how many packs you'd typically need to pull a card versus how many you'd need to open to earn enough Pack Points:

RarityPacks to PullPacks for PointsVerdict
Common~17Just pull

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Pack Points in Pokemon TCG Pocket?

Pack Points are a currency earned every time you open a booster pack in Pokemon TCG Pocket. You get 5 Pack Points per pack opened. They can be spent to craft or redeem specific cards, letting you target exactly the card you need instead of relying on pull luck.

How many Pack Points do you get per pack?

You earn 5 Pack Points for every booster pack you open, regardless of what cards you pull from the pack.

How much does a Crown Rare cost in Pack Points?

A Crown Rare costs 2,500 Pack Points. Since you earn 5 points per pack, you need to open 500 packs from that set to accumulate enough points for a Crown Rare.

Do Pack Points carry over between sets?

No. Pack Points are set-specific. Points earned from opening Genetic Apex packs can only be used to redeem Genetic Apex cards. They do not carry over or transfer between different expansions.

Should I use Pack Points or keep opening packs?

It depends on the card rarity. For Commons and Uncommons, just keep opening packs — you’ll pull them naturally. For high-rarity cards like Special Art Rares and Crown Rares, Pack Points are far more efficient. A Crown Rare takes roughly 2,500 packs to pull but only 500 packs’ worth of Pack Points to redeem.
