Heal 40 damage from this Pokémon.
Goodra wins by repeatedly attacking with Spiral Drain's 100 damage while healing 40 damage each turn, surviving far longer than opponents expect and gradually reaching the 3-point threshold through sustained exchanges. The self-heal makes every incoming attack less decisive.
Open with Goomy and use Poké Ball to find it on turn 1. Evolve through natural draw from Professor's Research and Copycat, using Rare Candy to skip Shelgon and reach Goodra directly. Mid-game, attach the water, psychic, and colorless energy needed for Spiral Drain. Once Goodra is Active, each attack deals 100 damage and heals 40 — effectively meaning opponents must deal 190 net damage to knock it out after one Spiral Drain. Pokémon Center Lady heals 30 damage and Lillie heals 60 from your Stage 2, while Lucky Ice Pop adds further recovery. Druddigon and Rocky Helmet punish opposing attackers. Will guarantees the next coin flip in the same turn is heads, which is useful when using Druddigon's Giga Claw or Lucky Ice Pop's coin flip.
Goodra's effective HP after one Spiral Drain
150 HP base + 40 heal per attack = 190 net HP to overcome per turn of combat
Pokémon Center Lady, Lillie, and Lucky Ice Pop can stack onto the 40-heal, making Goodra even harder to knock out in consecutive turns
Keep Goodra Active and attack every turn with Spiral Drain. The 40 HP heal offsets roughly one third of most opponents' per-turn damage output, forcing them to deal 190 or more net damage to score the knockout. Pokémon Center Lady adds 30 HP of healing to any of your Pokémon, Lillie heals 60 from your Stage 2 Goodra, and Lucky Ice Pop provides 20 additional recovery.
Bench Druddigon as a secondary attacker and equip Rocky Helmet to Goodra before it is hit. Druddigon provides a non-ex backup that scores 1 point on KO. Rocky Helmet deals 20 damage back to any attacking Pokémon that damages Goodra while it is Active, accelerating their KO timeline while Goodra heals the incoming hits. Will's heads-guarantee makes Druddigon's Giga Claw reliable when you need it.
Spiral Drain only heals 40 per turn, so a one-shot KO at 150 or more damage bypasses the healing entirely. Chandelure and Armarouge ex deal enough damage per turn to knock Goodra out before it heals. Score the 1-point KO cleanly and repeat — since the deck runs only one Goomy and one Goodra, there is no recovery path.
Goodra deals only 100 damage per turn. Opposing Pokémon with more than 200 effective HP — from their own healing or tool cards — can outlast Goodra's output while Goodra's self-heal cannot compensate for the point deficit. Pair high-HP ex Pokémon with Pokémon Center Lady to trade favorably through the attrition game.
The top Goodra build runs only 1 Goomy. Use Cyrus to pull Goomy forward if it has taken any damage, or use Sabrina to send the opponent's Active to the bench and force Goomy up if bench pressure is active. A single 1-point knockout that eliminates the sole Goomy leaves the opponent with only Druddigon and support Pokémon permanently.
