# 20cards

## What this site is

20cards is a fan-made analytics site for Pokémon TCG Pocket, the mobile game in
which decks are exactly 20 cards. It tracks 255 deck archetypes
from competitive tournament results, holds 3,761
cards with their attacks and pull rates, and generates decks around any card a
player chooses.

It is not affiliated with Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK or The Pokémon
Company.

## Methodology

Every number comes from 36,960 decklists recorded
across 763 competitive tournaments, 4 March 2026 to 11 August 2026.

- **No list is ever excluded for being old.** Results decay exponentially with a
  35-day half-life, so an archetype people stopped playing slides
  out of the rankings on its own, and a newly released one enters as its sample
  matures rather than spiking on day-one hype.
- **Win rate is shrunk toward the global mean** with a prior of 150
  decayed games. A deck with three recorded matches therefore does not appear at
  100%: until its sample is real, its rate stays near the field average. As a
  consequence, published win rates cluster in a narrow band and are NOT a good
  way to rank decks — meta share is.
- **Matchups** need at least two tournaments of evidence before they appear, and
  are capped at 25–75% so a thin sample cannot read as a hard counter.
- Tiers are thresholds on meta share: Tier 1 at 8% and above, Tier 2 at 3%,
  Tier 3 below that. When no deck dominates, **Tier 1 is legitimately empty.**

## Definitions

- **Meta share** — the share of decayed tournament decklists running the
  archetype. This is the field that varies meaningfully between decks.
- **Win rate** — decayed games won, Bayesian-shrunk toward the global mean.
- **Archetype** — a cluster of decklists sharing core cards, named for its
  protagonist Pokémon.
- **Core cards** — the cards present in essentially every list of the archetype.
- **Pack points** — the game's crafting currency: 5 earned per booster opened.
- **God Pack** — a rare booster in which all five cards are Art Rare or above;
  the published rate is 0.05%, about 1 in 2,000 packs.

## Update cadence

Tournament data is re-measured nightly. Card data updates when a new expansion
ships, roughly every six weeks. Dates shown on the site are bound to the data's
own timestamp, never to page render time — if a page says it was measured on a
date, that is when the pipeline last ran.
